Announcing – AMERICA 250: A garden project from the Daughters of the American Revolution proposed to be in place and well established for 250 year celebration of the United States.

Lilli Heinrich, Regent with Vice Regent, Myrene Lackey, both of Wazhazhe Chapter NSDAR of Lake Ozark, presented a plan to BDSA that transforms the roadside park, situated directly across from Lake Ozark City Hall, with plantings enhanced with a commemorative marker.

The Wazhazhe Chapter is relatively new and based in Lake Ozark joining other existing local DAR groups.

Proposal includes sowing the red Flander’s Field Poppy seeds, planting 13 Rose of Sharon bushes (for 13 colonies). Both choices are hardy, require little maintenance, colorful and suitable for the location. This is the foundation of a garden that will expand over time under the care of DAR’s Wazhazhe Chapter.

A dedication will be held in the fall upon completion of the first stage. In order to arrive at their goal, Lilli and Myrene are seeking project support. The $5000 budget, the majority of funds to be for the marker, needs donors in addition to fundraising events and grant proposals.
